Knowledge is power. Right?
Wrong. "Knowledge is potential power. " - Tony Robbins
It's how you use your knowledge, implement your strategies, and execute your plans.
It's one thing to know of something, hear about something, and to read something. But there's a difference between knowing, hearing, reading, and understanding which will lead to the level of your execution. Your execution is essentially your game changer. Here in Trinidad, you'll hear "These young people have so much education but don't know how to do so and so." Well, that's true. You can have all the degrees in the world but none of it matters if you don't put things to use. In my very first blog post, I mentioned that I couldn't find a job, so I created employment for myself. It may be something minute to most of you but to me, that's everything. I'm proud of it and I'm proud of myself.
I want you to be proud of yourself as well. Knowledge is not solely academic. I think a lot of us forget about that from time to time. You can have all the degrees, all the certificates, all the diplomas but it does not matter if you don't apply it. I can't stress that enough. Here is where we take a page or two out of the books of our ancestors. Did they have sufficient academic backgrounds? No. But they were educated on trades and herbal medicine etc. We have the opportunity to educate ourselves, better ourselves, learn more, do greater things. Break your generational curses and go out and do something worthwhile.
Start your business, prioritize your goals, go out, and GET IT. Don't even overthink about the cons just go out and get it. Here's a secret, an entrepreneur is a risk-taker, whether you fail or you succeed, you took the risk, you tried, and that's what matters. Failing will only put things into perspective. You will be able to strategize and understand where things went wrong. You'll be able to understand the flaws in your plans and find a solution to make it work.
Many of us want to be successful in our first attempt. But if your luck is as crappy as mine, it doesn't always work that way. You'll fail countless times, but when you succeed, the rewards will be worthwhile. That's what the textbook doesn't tell you. It says to plan and to follow precise steps and implement this and that and while it is true, there are certain factors we cannot control. Here is where your execution comes in. You, a business owner, need to adapt to the environment in which you operate. Remember, your clientele is your source of income. If the measures you have in place do not adhere to their liking, then my friend, you will be sitting in a pot of boiling water. Here's my advice, trial, and error. See what works and see what doesn't. Start small, sow one seed, observe it's growth, the conditions in which it thrives or not, and then if it fails, you try again. If you succeed, then plant an entire garden.
Remember, you can possess the knowledge but the execution is your competitive advantage. Knowledge is not power. It is potential power. Execution is power. Having the right strategy, that is potential power, carrying out that strategy is power. And hey, if you're having some problems with your strategy there are highly qualified professionals in the field that can assist you. But, take my advice, attempt the trial and error concept, before going forward. I'm not saying my way is the right way because I'm always for "if you're doing something, do it properly" but, your entrepreneurial journey is a learning process. You should identify the hindrances at the commencement phase to prevent other problems later down the road.
I'm no Victoria but, here's a secret.
Your execution, the trials, your failures and accomplishments will broaden your knowledge. Why? Because the best knowledge is obtained through experiences. Also, note that your strategies are imitable. Tip: Your strategy should be ongoing. Even if they copy it, you should already have another one in place, to be ahead.
Your knowledge, nobody can take that away from you. Knowledge and execution go hand in hand. With that pairing, you'll be unstoppable.
