Welcome to the SHEblog.

SHEBlog- "For Women In Business."

To me, the title always seemed a bit empowering but as I got older, I understood and grasped the concept of "Empowered Women Empower Women" and that's what SHEBlog is all about. This platform does not promote any form of discrimination towards genders but this is where I share my personal tips, tricks and tactics as a student, entrepreneur, a female and most importantly, a person.

Typically, websites and other blogs share the positive outcomes of one's efforts. SHEBlog intends to share the good, the bad and the ugly with you.
  1. “Fearlessness is not the absence of fear. It’s the mastery of fear. It’s about getting up one more time than we fall down.” —Arianna Huffington, editor in chief of The Huffington Post.

Well, Arianna, I've been falling for a very very long time. Let's face it, job hunting is not only stressful, but it's also depressing. I've spent the past year looking for jobs. However,  I was a bit "too educationally qualified" for some of the positions and didn't have sufficient experience for others. I've been to countless interviews and barely received any form of feedback as to why I didn't get the job. By now, I felt as though I wasn't good enough, even though I knew I had untapped potential and the capabilities. The rejection and feeling of ambivalence motivated me to further my education. I know what you're thinking, "if the issue is you being too educationally qualified, why would you further your studies?" But to be honest, finding a job and entering the working world was somewhat apprehensive to me. At the same time, I wanted to have a purpose and this prompted me to pursue my own small business. I did no form of planning or long term thinking about it. I created two flyers on Canva, a poorly designed logo, and an Instagram account. I sat on my bed thinking whether or not I should proceed with this but, I swallowed my fear and tapped my screen... and there I was...online and operating. Everything you do in life comes with a risk, the hack to this is to find yourself a support system, a loyal and genuine group of people who will support you and encourage you no matter what you're doing. I can honestly say that I've been blessed with one of the greatest support systems that this cruel world can offer. All you need in life is a little push but hey, don't forget to be your support system too! I'm proud of myself and what I've been able to accomplish. So those of you struggling in your careers, school, or those just trying to find a purpose...go ahead and create it for yourself. They say that "the future is female," but they've been saying that for a long time now. The future is now and sis...it's your time to shine. You do you, set your goals, take some risks, and make yourself proud!

A letter to the Zoom teachers...from a Zoom student.

There's a lot of traffic on social media concerning the requirements of the students for Zoom classes. Whilst it is understandable that the students must adhere to the requirements and meet the teachers halfway, this task is gravely difficult for most. It is a trying time and I sincerely thank the teachers for going out of their way, but here are some of things you may tend to overlook.  To my dearest teacher,  - Your student may not have a stable internet connection.  - Your student may not have a microphone to respond to your questions.  - Your student may not have an appropriate background to set up a camera.  - Your student may not be living in an area where the surroundings are quiet (I can attest to this, I literally live on a farm).  - Your student may not have a laptop of his/her own and cannot attend classes.  - Your student may not have the capacity and motivation to learn using a computer.  - Being focused, attentive and active is HARD....

You are your brand.

We ALL struggle with ourselves. Call it an identity crisis if you may. Let's face it, you are not the same person you were 10 years ago. You're not the same person you were 3 years ago. Hell, you're not the same person you were yesterday. That's the beauty of life, we can adapt and alter ourselves and that my friends, is what we call growth. The decisions you made in the past got you to where you are now, and from my experience, some decisions I made, yielded wretched outcomes. But, it made me realize that if I didn't walk the paths that I did, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I wouldn't be my brand and my brand wouldn't be a reflection of myself. When creating your own startup, there are innumerable things you must contemplate. Sure, the underlying concept is to make some money, however, in some instances, quality is salutary as opposed to quantity. As a student, they'll teach you that higher quality comes with a cost. And they're right. I...

Know.

Knowledge is power. Right?  Wrong.  "Knowledge is potential power. " - Tony Robbins  It's how you use your knowledge, implement your strategies, and execute your plans.  It's one thing to know of something, hear about something, and to read something. But there's a difference between knowing, hearing, reading, and understanding which will lead to the level of your execution. Your execution is essentially your game changer. Here in Trinidad, you'll hear "These young people have so much education but don't know how to do so and so." Well, that's true. You can have all the degrees in the world but none of it matters if you don't put things to use. In my very first blog post, I mentioned that I couldn't find a job, so I created employment for myself. It may be something minute to most of you but to me, that's everything. I'm proud of it and I'm proud of myself.  I want you to be proud of yourself as well. Knowledge is not sol...
